As one of Arizona’s most prolific internet entrepreneurs, Jason Hope has made a name for himself as a visionary and farsighted businessman who is capable of bringing the most challenging projects to fruition. Over the course of a career spanning more than 25 years, Hope has been able to create some of the most innovative products and business models that the internet has ever seen. This has allowed him to live a life dedicated to helping to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.
As a result, Hope has become one of the most prolific medical philanthropists in the state. Recently, he gave more than $500,000 to one of the nation’s leading medical research institutions, the SENS Foundation. This money has been earmarked towards the study of atherosclerosis and the underlying molecular phenomena that lead to it.
Hope has long understood that the fundamental processes that occur in atherosclerosis may be closely linked to almost every major disease process seen in the aging. As an avid follower of the medical literature, Hope has long been aware that the same process of slight damage to endothelial tissues, followed by an inflammatory repair response, is precisely the same mechanism that causes everything from rheumatoid arthritis to glaucoma to wrinkling skin. It is for this reason that Hope has long believed that gaining a complete understanding of the processes that lead to atherosclerosis and all of the disease states that follow from it may someday lead to a radical extension of the average life expectancy in the United States.
And Hope is not the only one to hold this opinion. The medical establishment itself is showing increased interest in discovering the molecular processes that lead to atherosclerotic plaque formation. The large donation that Hope made to the SENS Foundation will be used to fund a full-time team of researchers, vastly increasing the capacity of the foundation to carry out its fundamental research in the area of atherosclerosis.
It is through initiatives like these that Hope continues to make a real difference in the communities in which he lives and the country at large.
